Up next

Some new developments:

I'm waiting for my uncle to get back to me about what kind of project I should do this year. I'm between the patio (fun but might take too long to enjoy this summer) and a bunch of small projects (not as fun but not as time-consuming -- also cheaper). That is unless he thinks I need to repair the exterior. I'm trying to put that off (not fun, requires permits, takes a long time, makes a mess).

This weekend my roommate moves out, and on May 1 we get a new one. Over the weekend between the two girls, my folks are coming to help me replace the baseboard trim and paint the room. It would be so nice to replace the window, too...

And on a related note, the new roommate has no furniture, so I offered her my awesome bed, made by Dad, because I've been wanting to upgrade from a full to a queen. So that means I have to buy a mattress for the first time ever! (My old one is a hand-me-down that is probably older than I am.) Anyway, I have no clue what I'm doing, so Mom's going to take me to Costco. I'm also sort of curious about Ikea mattresses, but that's not as convenient, so we'll see. I am, however, probably getting my bed frame from Ikea, so I will have to eventually get over there anyway.

And lastly, one of my flowers is starting to bloom! We planted them last fall and a bunch of the buds died in the blizzard, but some made it through!

Pictures that have been lurking on my work computer...

No real comments, just putting these out there. I don't remember where I got them.

Truly indecisive

I've really been having issues lately with figuring out what I want to do next with the house. The plan is one big project per year. My original idea was that I would do the patio this summer. Then over the winter, when patio wasn't exactly on my mind, I decided the first-floor bathroom should be the priority. And then the kitchen window/wall started leaking, and maybe I should work on restoring the exterior. Oh and did I mention I want to redo the electrical/AV cables in the living room? And redo my closet? And replace the interior doors? And put in a security door in the back? And put up trim and molding and half a million other things? Oh, and then there's the issue of furniture. First I thought I wanted all black. Then all white. Then upholstered bed, then canopy bed.

And then I see this.

And it is nothing like anything I had thought about before. But I love it.

Sigh.

Am I crazy?

Am I crazy to want a stained-glass bathroom door?

Like this:

Or this:

Okay so I know the second one looks like it's probably not stained glass. But you get the idea.

Love love love

I love this bathroom. I want it!  Specifically the tile, the grout, the faucet coming from the wall and the sink. Ooh so pretty.

Okay, maybe a pedestal sink...

I wanted storage in my vanity, but now I think I know a way I can get a whole closet -- if I go with a pedestal sink instead. Love this:

The sink comes from this company, and although it's pricey, they have a bunch of good looking stuff. Maybe I can find a sale or a knock-off somewhere...

A DIY coat rack

Sandy's leaving the house in May, and unfortunately the coat rack belongs to her! So I've been thinking about how to replace it.
This seems cool.

Decor Pad bathrooms

Loving several things about some of these bathrooms:

I like the tile combos here, though I'd probably take the shower the full length of the wall. And no pedestal sink. And no wall-mounted toilet.

Haven't thought too much about the upstairs bathroom, since it's not getting redone for a while, but I love the tile here, the double curtains and the nooks for candles and toiletries. Super cute.

I like this simple tile combo for downstairs, though maybe a little darker.

I like this one a lot. Maybe one of my favorites so far. Very spa-like. I really like the sink, and the placement of the vanity and shower. I even like the frosted glass, which I hadn't really been considering. Wondering if I could do this, but instead of a shower door just take the plate of glass farther into the room, leaving the entrance to the shower open (hoping that if the shower head is pointing directly down from the ceiling, it won't spray into the room).

Canopy vs. Tufted

I'm probably not going to replace my bed for a while, but I can't help looking at the options out there. I keep going back and forth between a streamlined, modern canopy, sorta like this first photo, or a cozy, sort of Victorian-inspired tufted headboard in white (and the rest of the bed upholstered, too), like the second photo.

Oh and speaking of canopy beds, Ikea has a pretty well-priced one (though maybe it's a little cheap-looking):

Too Girly?

The BF says he prefers cleaner lines, but I think these are adorable. Thought about trying to make some (because, really, how hard could it be to make some ruffles?), but I think it would be pretty time-intensive. And maybe a little heavy-looking on more than one window?

Simply Pretty

Well this is nice.

Funny design-ish blog

In my daily foraging for design blogs to drool over, I stumbled upon this funny little blog.

Favorite vanity so far...

This was on an eBay sale, but it looks like the maker is called Essen. $500 for everything, including the faucet. Actually, I don't think the mirror is included.

Here it is for a bit more, but this Fixture Universe place also sells the mirror!

Er...right, back to it.

Kind of took a long holiday break. But I'm back to it, and thinking more and more about the bathroom reno I want to do this spring. A few pieces of inspiration:

Here I like the combo of the bright blue with the medium wood. I wouldn't think to do that. I also kind of like the vessel sink, thought I'd prefer one that looks less like a bathtub. Not in love with the faucet, though.

I dig the lighting, the trim and the neutral colors. And of course the style of the shower stall with the frameless doors. Love it. I like this sink shape better, though I think I probably need some storage in the vanity. Must remember to use sconces...

I labeled this photo "perfectshower." I want one exactly like this. I hadn't been planning on a bench, but this is super awesome. Oh but I want some room for shampoo and stuff, I think. Maybe. Not sure, actually.
